Just a quick note to thank you for all of your help. I wasn't sure about how to deal with the two mirrors meeting at the inside corner. Even though there was no deterioration of the vertical edges, I used your suggestion to treat them as two separate mirrors, and it was the perfect solution. It's a stunning look, adding even more beauty.

I came this close to not ordering the mirror strips, because I didn't know how to treat the inside corner & didn't want it to look amateurish. My two other choices were to either replace both mirrors, or have the lower edges cut off each one, and I think either option might have been more expensive than doing the mirror strips.

I am planning to sell my home, and one of the mirrors was losing silver pretty badly ~ not a pretty look ~ and now it looks so beautiful that I keep walking by to steal a look. It looks like something you see in magazines.

Because the look is such a treat for sore eyes, I've decided to do two other mirrors, even though they're not losing silver, and I will be placing another order though Home Depot.

Hi Friends! I HAVE to blog about the thrifty find I made yesterday! I really don’t like the mirrors in our bathrooms but I have been patient in changing them out because I wanted to replace them with framed mirrors (for a more custom look) and that can be costly!

Well, I said it CAN be costly but as I found out yesterday my patience paid off BIG! I went to Lowe’s to buy some curtain rods when I stumbled upon a rack full of Mirredge mirror trim in several different colors. I stared at the Cherry Walnut for a while and wasn’t sure how it would look but I couldn't leave the store without it so I bought just enough for the boys bathroom upstairs.

These came in sets of two so I bought 2 sets ~ one set for the horizontal trim and one for the vertical trim. I then bought 1 set of 4 corner plates. They cover the seams and add a nice aesthetic touch.

Whitney just happened to be coming over that afternoon (how convenient for me) so she assisted me in this venture. The trim is 59.5” long, so roughly 5’. The instructions say to measure each piece on the mirror, score and then crisply snap the trim to get the right fit. This did not work (circular saw is so much more efficient – learned how to use one with this project). Measure the vertical strips first and then the horizontal. After you cut them down to size there are double-sided adhesive pads that come with the trim – just peel and stick (we put 4 to 5 on each strip).

It was a pleasure speaking with you a little while ago. I share your enthusiasm about the Mirredge product. Surprisingly, I learned about your amazing product from my plumber, who suggested that Mirredge will transform my master bathroom. At one of his customers homes, he was able to witness, first hand, how upscale your product looks and how easy it is to install. He tells all of his customers about Mirredge.

I have visited your website and scrolled through the pictures that you have posted online. I have also viewed YouTube videos with instructions on how to install MirrEdge. Your product is going to be an internet sensation!I needed my bathroom mirror cut and was telling the glass company about your product. They had never heard of it (or anything like it) but want me to let them know what I think about it once it is installed. The owner of the company seemed very interested!

I just want to thank you for all your help in placing my order for the Dove White mirror frame. I just finished installing it and I have to tell you it looks like a brand new bathroom. I had always been bothered by some discoloration at the bottom of my wall mirror. To hide it I would place objects in front. Now I will make sure I show it off!!!

Assembly was easy and the results are priceless!!! I keep looking at my "new" mirror.If you ever need references feel free to give my number. If you ever hire installers in the Boston area I am available!!! (I'm an early retired teacher looking for another career.)

The job is done and looks really very good, I used the acrylic mirror edge since there is no wood tone in that bathroom.. Had to buy many strips since the mirror goes around two walls and is about 7 feet by almost 5 feet !! The product is easy to work with once one gets "the hang' of it !!

The project went fairly fast.I am happy to say that after living in this house for almost 7 years, the bathroom mirror finally looks finished, thanks to MirrEdge.

I used MirrEdge in my bathroom on a older mirror that was beginning to show some age damage around the outside. I used the cherry walnut with the contemporary cormers and it looks great. (Purchased at Lowe's)

As a suggestion - you could increase the variety of the uses of the product by just creating different types of corners. While many people today love modern looking decor, we live in the country in Texas and have a more rustic look to our decor. Some corners that incorporate a star, cowboy boot, or some other rustic western theme would open up a whole new market. I had considered trying to glue rope around the mirror to hide the flaws, but realized what a mess I would make with the glue everywhere. Then I found the MirrEdge and decided that would be much simpler. I would have loved to find more variety in the corner selection to more fit the bathroom decor. Otherwise it was easy and made it look much neater.

Mirror Installation-Mirror Maintenance Save Existing Mirrors

Mirror Thickness

Most mirrors are manufactured to a thickness of 1/8” – 3/16” and ¼”. To obtain the best quality of true undistorted reflections, always use ¼” thick mirrors. Using mirrors with thicknesses less than ¼”, particularly when affixed to a wall, will most certainly provide a distorted image as the wall is not perfectly flat. Additionally, as the adhesive dries out, it tends to draw the mirror towards the wall surface distorting the mirror even further. Therefore, it is recommended to use ¼ inch thickness.

Mirror Mounting

Frameless mirrors must be suitably supported at the bottom with mechanically fastened wall retainers or they must sit on a rigid element that will support the base of the mirror.
There are two time-proven techniques for mounting a mirror: brackets and adhesion. With brackets, you have four or more metal units that clip onto the mirror and screw into the wall. The bracket method is popular because it's fast, easy to clean and reversible if you change your mind.
Adhesion: Adhesion requires a liquid glue you apply to the back of the mirror. When you place the mirror against the wall, it sticks. Adhesion works best in small places; however, it's more or less permanent and requires professional expertise to remove with minimum damage to the wall. Small repairs to the wall may also be necessary if a glued mirror is removed.
To hold a frameless mirror system in a vertical position, use either mechanically fastened wall retainer clips that are utilized at the top of the mirror or globs of a special petroleum based mirror adhesive that is applied to the wall. The mirror is then landed onto a cushioned base and then pressed into the multiple globs of this very slow drying adhesive. This pressure starts a suction action, which will hold the mirror into an acceptable vertical position without the need to apply clips at the top of the mirror. However, for security purposes, it is recommended that retaining clips be utilized. We recommend the metal Z type clips. There are two sizes, 1/8” and ¼” clips according to the size thickness of your mirror.

Toxic Chemicals in Mirrors

Most mirrors have toxic chemicals that make up the mirroring process. These include silver nitrate used for the reflective surface and red lead protective coatings with a painted seal coat used on the backing. While on the wall, these substances are contained and not harmful. Breaking up mirrors and disposing of them into landfills and the oceans release these toxic substances. However, mirrors can be made attractive without removing them from the wall.

Scratched Mirrors

If your mirror is scratched, try this do-it-yourself tip before calling a service professional: Rub a little toothpaste into the scratch. (Normally gel-type pastes are not as effective as regular pastes.) Polish with a soft cloth.

Cleaning Mirrors

Cleaning Mirrors: It is best to clean mirrors with a cleaner that does not contain ammonia. If you are not sure of the ingredients, spray the rag with cleaner so as to not get the liquid near the edge of mirror which is one of the reasons mirrors deteriorate. Another could be that the backing was not sealed properly and moisture is allowed in. Quit using ammonia-based cleaners on the mirrors. The ammonia gets behind the glass and starts to oxidize the silver finish. If you must use an ammonia-based cleaner, always spray in the middle of the mirror and avoid getting the edges wet with the cleaner.

Keeping mirrors fresh and attractive is very important. That is just about the first thing you look at when entering the bathroom area and the last thing before going to bed.

Think twice about disposing of existing plain or deteriorated mirrors. There are other options that are cost effective. The product is easy to work with and we had priced actually purchasing the mirror strips from a glass company. Using your product lowered the expense considerably.

We originally purchased only the wood appearing frame for the master bath but when it turned out so very well we returned to purchase for the other bath. "We had our basement finished and we have a Retro theme, black, red and white. We searched the internet looking for mirror to put between black half round moulding at chair level, to match our Black Wurlitzer Juke box. When we came across this product we were thrilled. How To Apply Acrylic Mirr.Edge to a mirror that has existing mirror clips

The best way to deal with this situation is to unscrew and relocate the plastic or metal mirror clips to within one and a half inches from each corner. Affix the horizontal and vertical Mirr.Edge Acrylic Strips in between the clips using the included double faced tape in each package, in addition to dabs of Mirr.Edge Glue Adhesive or Liquid Nails LN-600 Adhesive (sold separately) next to the double faced tape squares. Affix the Mirr.Edge Corner Plates into the corner areas and ON TOP of the Acrylic Strips in each corner, thereby covering the mirror clips.

In the event the mirror clips are not able to be relocated to the corner areas, you can piece the Acrylic Strips in between the existing clips, and cover the clips with a Mirr.Edge Cover Seam Plate, or a small piece of leftover Mirr.Edge Acrylic Strip, cut to two or three inches long, or as desired. This solution works best with the metal mirror clip, as it is only about an eigth inch thick. If you have the traditional thicker plastic mirror clips, replacing them with a metal clip would work best. These metal mirror clips can usually be found at your local home improvement stores in the mirror and/or hardware department.
